We generally hold a pre-sale in late winter, followed by a spring release once our own collection is planted and we know what’s left to share. Availability is always limited, as we only offer what we grow ourselves. Subscribers to our mailing list will be the first to know when sales open.

Currently we can ship to VIC, NSW, ACT, QLD and SA.

Please open your parcel when it arrives and check your tubers against the packing slip so you know everything is there and looking as expected.

Until planting time, store your tubers in a cool, dry, frost-free place.

You’ll also find a QR code in your parcel that links to my full dahlia growing resources, with extra tips on planting, storing and caring for your tubers.

Before our pre-sale opens, we dig, divide, check and count our dahlia tubers by hand.

We only release a small portion of confirmed stock during pre-sale so we can confidently meet orders. Once pre-sale orders have been packed and allocated, any remaining stock may be released in a smaller spring sale.

This helps us avoid overselling and reduces the chance of disappointing refunds. We would rather offer less upfront than sell tubers we cannot supply.

We take pre-sale stock very seriously. Tubers are only listed once they have been lifted, divided, counted and checked, and we intentionally hold back stock to ensure pre-sale orders can be fulfilled.

As with any living plant material, unexpected losses can occasionally happen in storage. If there is ever an issue with your order, we will contact you directly and resolve it as fairly as possible.

Our goal is always to meet pre-sale orders first before offering any additional stock in a later release.

Yes, we may be able to ship earlier to warmer climates by request.

Please note that early-shipped tubers may still have dormant eyes at the time of dispatch. If you request early shipping, you accept that eyes may not yet be visibly active, and we cannot offer refunds based on dormant eyes after early dispatch.

We will only send tubers we believe are viable, but warmer-climate early shipping is at the buyer’s request and risk.

We take plant health seriously and cull hard for signs of virus in the field. Any plants showing concerning symptoms are removed from our growing stock to help minimise risk.

That said, dahlia virus can be difficult to identify and may remain dormant or symptomless, so no grower can honestly guarantee virus-free tubers.

By purchasing dahlia tubers, you acknowledge that there is always some risk with living plant material. We do everything we reasonably can to grow, select and supply healthy tubers, but we cannot accept responsibility for virus expression after purchase.

Yes, we can currently send eligible dahlia tubers to Victoria, New South Wales, ACT, Queensland and South Australia.

There are current biosecurity requirements in place relating to Tomato Potato Psyllid, also known as TPP, in Victoria. I have sought specific guidance from Agriculture Victoria for dahlia tubers and have been advised that dahlia tubers with visible eyes are exempt from TPP treatment and restriction requirements.

Because of this, our viable dahlia tubers with visible eyes can be sent to the approved states listed above.

Biosecurity requirements can change, because apparently growing flowers was not already administratively spicy enough. If anything changes before shipping, we will update customers and follow the current requirements.

Some dahlia varieties produce very limited numbers of viable tubers, so selected varieties may be limited to one tuber per customer.

This is to give more people a fair chance at getting their hands on them, especially when a variety is rare, slow to multiply or available in very small numbers.

If a variety is limited to one per person, this will be clearly noted on the product listing.

Orders that attempt to bypass the limit may be adjusted or refunded at our discretion.

Yes. After the pre-sale, we send monthly email updates so you know what is happening behind the scenes.

These updates may include tuber storage notes, seasonal timing, growing tips and shipping updates. You will be among the first to know when dispatch is getting close.

Because we grow in a cooler part of Victoria, shipping usually begins around mid to late October, depending on weather, tuber condition and seasonal timing.

Dahlia tubers are sold as a seasonal pre-sale. When you place an order, that stock is reserved for you and removed from available inventory.

If you choose to cancel your order before dispatch, we will deduct a cancellation fee of $10 plus any unrecoverable payment processing fees from your refund. This fee helps cover payment processing costs, admin time and the work involved in returning limited seasonal stock to inventory.

Cancellation requests must be made in writing by emailing us with your order number.

Once your order has been packed or dispatched, it can’t be cancelled.

Dahlia tubers are living plant material, and timing matters.

We store tubers carefully through winter and ship when conditions are more suitable for planting and growth. In our cold-climate Victorian location, this is usually mid to late October.

Shipping too early can increase the risk of tubers sitting dormant, being stored incorrectly after arrival, or being planted before conditions are suitable.

We only send tubers we believe are viable at the time of packing.

Dahlia tubers can take time to wake, especially in cooler conditions. Some will show obvious eyes or shoots early, while others remain slower and more stubborn. That is normal.

Once tubers have been received, their success depends on storage, planting conditions, watering, soil temperature and care. Because of this, we cannot guarantee growth after dispatch.

Address changes can only be made before your order has been packed for dispatch. Once shipping has commenced, we cannot redirect parcels or take responsibility for incorrect addresses entered at checkout.

No. We do not ship dahlia tubers overseas and we do not allow freight forwarders, parcel forwarding services, dropshipping addresses or on-forwarding services to be used to bypass this policy.

We’re a small-scale Australian grower with limited seasonal stock, and our priority is supplying Australian gardeners and growers.Demand is already higher than what we can produce, so our dahlia tubers are available within Australia only.

Where possible, yes.

If you place more than one tuber order during the pre-sale, please contact us with your order numbers. We will do our best to combine shipping where practical, but this cannot be guaranteed once packing has begun.

Once all pre-sale orders have been packed and allocated, any remaining tubers may be released in a smaller spring sale. This allows us to prioritise pre-sale customers first and only offer additional stock once we know exactly what is available.

The best way to hear about any spring release is to join the waitlist.

Dahlias thrive in full sun and well-drained soil. Plant the tuber horizontally about 10–15cm deep once the risk of frost has passed. Water lightly until shoots appear, then regularly through summer. Pinch early growth to encourage branching, feed with a balanced fertiliser, and cut often - the more you pick, the more they bloom!

We only send out healthy, viable tubers with developed eyes or visible shoots - usually from late October onwards, once growth has begun. Each one is inspected and packed by hand to ensure it’s ready to thrive once planted.

We take great care to ensure every tuber arrives healthy and true to variety. If you notice any damage or concerns upon arrival, please get in touch within 48 hours of receiving your order so we can make it right.

Yes, absolutely.

We love supporting the talented breeders behind the dahlias we’re lucky enough to grow and share. In line with the Southern Highlands Flower Farm breeder royalty initiative, we pay $1 per tuber sold from our end-of-season dahlia tuber sales to breeders who are accepting royalties.

We maintain our own breeder royalty database so we can keep accurate records and support the people behind the varieties we grow and share.
